Best Cartagena Nightlife Area
For those who have never been. Cartagena has two neighborhoods where you're likely to spend most of your time. Bocagrande and Centro Historico (city center).
Bocagrande is right on the beach, has a ton of boutique hotels, restaurants and clubs. This area is popular among Colombian tourists. Every weekend, flocks of busses leave groups of Colombians at these boutique hotels.
Nightlife in this area tends to be more cliquey and catered to locals.
The city center or Centro Historico, is where you'll find the upscale, high-end Cartagena nightclubs. You'll find everything from Latin beats, salsa, reggaeton, hip hop and even EDM.
Best Cartagena Nightclubs
Cartagena has a plethora of rooftop bars and lounge areas that range in musical genres.
Al Quimico
Voted #9 in the World's 50 best bars, Al Quimico is a place that has it all. 3 floors of different ambiance from local music to deep house and even a rooftop reggaeton club, it's a can't miss when in Cartagena.
These guys don't hold reservations so be sure to get here early as this place gets packed. We recommend you get here right after dinner. Likely at about 8-9 pm, have a drink on each floor (best cocktails in Cartagena) and then grab a table on the rooftop.
La Jugada
Located right across the street from Al Quimico, La Jugada also has various floors and ambiances. There is pink flamingo and daisy rooftop. Two different settings where you can see the entire walled city.
La Jugada is a must for groups looking for an upscale local nightclub and don't mind being a little crammed.
As with most Colombian nightclubs, tables are expected and you won't get a lot of attention brought to you just because you buy a bottle.
Dolce Vitta
These next two Cartagena nightclubs will appeal to the Cartagena bachelor party crowd.
Also located in the walled city, Dolce Vitta is a club specializing in hip-hop and reggaeton. It's the place to be for groups of guys to pick up VIP hostesses or even to have an epic few hours.
As with every place with similar raison d'etres, alcohol can be overpriced. But with a group of guys, and a devalued local currency, you'll be alright.
Be sure to make a reservation, get here at around 11 and keep an eye on your tab.
Delirium
Delirium and Dolce Vitta are similar Cartagena Nightclubs in the sense that they both are great for picking up hostesses.
Both in the walled city and both a dope spot to buy a hookah and chill in a traditional US club setting. These guys play of blend of reggaeton and hip hop and there is a plethora of girls on any given night.
We recommend you make a reservation and at both Delirium and Dolce, be sure to bring a local with you. Someone to keep an eye on your tab and make sure your credit cards aren't being charged an incorrect amount.
La Movida
La Movida is a restaurant / nightclub that once 10pm rolls around, they dim the lights and the crowd changes up a bit. They specialize in Gin & tonics but their eclectic cocktails list and tapas is exquisite.
We recommend this place more for groups looking to do enjoy a traditional Cartagena style nightclub. Their lounge area features crossover beats meaning more Latin music. While their patio focuses on EDM.
